OPEN Successfully Held ‘Industry on the Floor-Project Observation Meeting’
2025-05-20 16:14On 15th May, ‘Industry on Building - Project Observation Meeting’ hosted by Open was successfully held in Fengxian, Shanghai, with more than 200 representatives from 28 owners, 56 design units and management companies coming to the site.
The project is contracted by Open EPC, with a total floor area of 72,235 square metres. The project consists of 7 buildings and adopts four structural forms, and will become an important carrier for regional scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading after the completion of the project.
Welcome Speech
Chen Ming, Chairman of Open, delivered a speech for the opening of the meeting, firstly, he introduced the background of the project construction, reviewed the development history of Open and especially thanked Professor Li of Tongji University, Mr Chen said: Doing innovation needs theoretical support, through the co-operation with Tongji University and other colleges and universities, Open has made remarkable progress on the road of innovation, and the products can be optimised and promoted. It is inseparable from the support of all owners, design institutes and construction units.
When analysing the current situation of the construction industry, Mr. Chen said that despite the downward pressure on the industry, creating value for customers through differentiated technology is still the key to remain competitive. Currently, Open has 2 million square metres of projects under construction overseas, and hopes to strengthen technical exchanges and cooperation with owners and design units through this event to face the industry challenges together.
The representative of the project owner, Mr. Yao, shared with the audience from the perspective of Party A: firstly, she thanked the organiser and all the builders for their hard work and reviewed the efficient process of the project from the commencement of the construction to the present time, stressing the key role of scientific and rigorous management in ensuring the smooth delivery of the project. At the same time, she introduced the development process of transforming from a manufacturing enterprise to a comprehensive high-standard industrial park, as well as the positioning and development plan of the park, and welcomed enterprises with investment and production needs to join. Finally, she wished the observation meeting a complete success and wished all of you another success in your future work and contribute more to the development of the construction industry.
Theme Report
Mr Wu, Chief Engineer of Auburn, gave a theme report, introducing and analysing in detail the application and technical characteristics of the project's multi-structural forms.
Manager Jin, the person in charge of the project construction, introduced the construction situation of the project and made corresponding construction programmes according to different structural forms.
On-site Observation
In the on-site observation session, the guests were divided into four teams, and each team was equipped with a team leader and assistant, who led them to visit each building unit, highlighted the products, explained in detail the connection nodes of each product and the main points of installation and construction, and allowed the guests to have a close-up experience of the completion effect of various products.
Subsequently, everyone watched the lifting process of sandwich panels, and the safe, fast and efficient operation of the construction team left a deep impression on everyone
Expert Comment
Professor Li Guoqiang, a doctoral supervisor of Tongji University's School of Civil Engineering, was specially invited to this observation meeting.
When analysing the development trend of China's steel structure industry, Professor Li particularly pointed out that the application of low-carbon recycled steel will become a key path for the transformation of green buildings, and stressed the far-reaching significance of its large-scale promotion for the sustainable development of the industry. In addition, he put forward the core point of view on structural design: the need to systematically optimise the efficiency of the layout of beams, columns, walls, braces and other components, and focus on the industrialised and convenient design of node connections, so as to achieve the double improvement of construction efficiency and building performance.
Focusing on the project, Professor Li spoke highly of the project's multi-structure synergistic application and innovative practice. Through precise technical integration, Open verified the ability of multi-structure system to land in complex projects, and set up a reusable benchmark paradigm for the industry with low-carbon material selection and refined design, which provides an important reference for the development of industrial buildings towards high efficiency and greenness.
Shen Jiaxing, Director Engineer of Baosteel Steel Structure Co., Ltd, spoke highly of Open's structural technical ability and construction management level in the project, and combined with his own experience, Shen also put forward the growth suggestions for young designers that emphasise both practice and innovation, and looked forward to working with Open to promote more technical achievements and the development of the industry.
Exchange and Interaction
During the interactive session, Mr Ye, Vice President of Open, and Mr Wu, Chief Engineer of Open, provided professional answers to the questions raised by the audience one by one, combining with example demonstration and data comparison.
This observation meeting took the application of multi-structural forms as the entry point, showing Open's comprehensive engineering capabilities in the field of industrial buildings. In the future, Open will rely on the rich accumulation of technology to accurately match the needs of different projects and lay a solid foundation for industrial upgrading. Open will also continue to plough into technology research and development to create differentiated competitiveness, and look forward to working together with industry players for mutual benefit and win-win, creating more value for customers and for society.
